When you buy a ticket to the otter sanctuary, you will also be able to take a ride on the vintage bus around the town of Buckfastleigh. You can enjoy this ride to Buckfast Abbey and around the whole town. You will need to check for the bus timings.
Riverside Walk
If the otters are asleep, you can seize the opportunity to take the Riverside Walk. The walk goes along the River Dart and also includes a play area and maze for children. All of these activities are at the South Devon Railway site and can be accessed with the ticket you purchased for the otter sanctuary.
Feeding Time
The feeding time for the otters is a fun-filled activity your children will enjoy. Feeding takes place at 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. daily. You can go along with the otter keeper and watch how he feeds the otters. He will also give a detailed explanation about each of the otters. If you have any questions, you can ask the keeper and he will be glad to answer them for you. There are three different species of otters at the sanctuary.
Butterflies
There are over 150,000 species of butterflies. The butterfly farm at the sanctuary is a great place to take your children. You will see different colourful butterflies form different parts of the world here. The sight is just beyond description. The plethora or colours is just spectacular.
