There are several beaches in Devon that are worth visiting. Churston Cove
Churston Cove is one of the beaches where you can take your dog. This is a shingle and sand beach and is a popular place for yacht picnics. There is no access for the physically challenged at this beach. Churston Cove is a nice place for swimming. However, there are no facilities available at this beach. You will have to pack your own picnic basket before leaving your Torquay holiday cottage. Churston Cove is located just a short distance away from your Devon holiday cottage.
Seaton
Seaton is a one mile long sand and shingle beach that is ideal for families with children. You can take the drive down to this beach from your Torquay holiday cottage and enjoy a nice family beach picnic. The beach is not very easily accessible for the physically challenged. If you want to go scuba diving while staying at your Devon holiday cottage, this beach will be a good choice. Fishing and yachting are the other activities possible at this beach. You can also enjoy a nice walk on the wide esplanade that runs to almost the whole length of the beach. You can your children can explore the several rock pools at this beach during low tide. Swimming is safe at this beach and hence it is a popular place for families with children.
Sidmouth
Sidmouth is another place you should consider visiting. The beaches here are pebble and sand beaches and there is also a wide esplanade where you can enjoy a nice walk. You can visit these beaches while staying at one of the Devon holiday cottages or the Torquay holiday cottages. Don’t worry if you have forgotten to pack a picnic basket, you can get all you need at the shops close to the beaches. Parking is available at the paid car parking area or out on the street. You can explore and enjoy Jacob’s ladder, Town Beach and Weston Mouth. Dogs are only allowed in restricted areas of these beaches. You can enjoy a nice beach picnic at Sidmouth while you are on holiday in Devon.
